It is officially usless.

Weeks of slowness, poor management of releases of GITD, the whole enchilada.

Today it is just flat out down. The hamster must have finally died.

Back in my day.......

I haven't been able to get in since yesterday or maybe even Sunday. Even before that it was super slow.

I say we put a vote in for THIS PLACE to be the new "official" forum.

So, THAT's what my cat was chewing on when I woke up this morning!

To me, it speaks volumes when a fan cares more about that band than the band's actual management in terms of making a decent forum like Tom has done here.

I really can't take all the credit for the software this site is running on, just the massive adjustments to it. vBulletin is probably the largest (paid) forum software in the business. I just managed to hack the crap out of it (legally, mind you, as in code) and turn it into what this site is now.

I think with the next update (scheduled for Sunday), it'll be more viral and social, so HOPEFULLY we'll see more activity in the forums, but word of mouth is always going to play an important part, so, fans obviously drive this site as much (if not more) than I do.

Like I said in another thread, has a fan said to Roger after a show "Dude, your board & site really suck big old donkey balls"?

The last time I had that chance, the new place had just started so I was kind of afraid to mention it since it hadn't been up more than a few weeks.

Plus, it was only my second show & my first time meeting him, & I freely admit to being a star-struck Kool Aid drinker standing in front of an incredibly beautiful man, so I was just trying not to act like a total retard.

When I last spoke to him after a show I was going to casually say something, but he brought it up first. He started talking about how great and friendly the new site and board were. Didn't want to disagree and create a mini conflict with him in front of a bunch of other fans and such.

My understanding is that Roger is great with music, but knows very, very little about actual technology (ie: the interweb). That is completely understandable, given how much the guys are on tour and not @ home, sitting in that bus.

BTW:
I just did a pretty simple check. The reason the forum is down now, as is everything else is that their entire server is down, has been at least all morning.

I was able to get to the forum last night, but this is yet another indication of absolutely poor management. Were it my server, I'd have had someone's ass in a sling hours ago, but then again, were it my site, I wouldn't have waited a damn WEEK to get the problem resolved in the first place.

Who knows what their "management" is thinking or doing.

This doesn't surprise me either. Though I'm sure he could use the latest & greatest recording technology out there, he can't google anything to save his life.

Much like our mechanical engineers here, they can build HVAC systems for days but ask them how their cell phones works & they've not the first clue. I asked our head ME if his VCR still blinked 12:00 & he looked at me sheepishly & said "yes ."
