I'll start this one out.
How long have you been listening to RCPM? How did you get started? How many shows have you been to? How many shows (average) a year do you go to?

Been listening to RCPM since the Refreshments days.
I looooved Banditos. Bought the album. Bought the next album. They broke up I lost track of them. Then one day I'm in Best Buy & see this face in the "C" section & think "Good looking guy." I stop, pick up the CD which happened to be Sonoran Hope & Madness & realize that it's the dude from the Refreshments. I buy it, buy all the rest. All this time, I swear on all my RCPM stuff & my gatos, that it never occurred to me that this little band from AZ would play in DC or Baltimore. I was all wrapped up in the big shows at the big venues & never really checked out the small stuff because why bother? Bon Jovi wasn't playing there, so why should I care? Then one day, 4 years ago, I'm reading the paper & see that RCPM is playing in Baltimore. I. was. FLOORED!! There they were, this little band I've enjoyed for so long gonna be an hour away from me. Sadly, at the time the hubby was going through chemo & even though they were playing on my birthday I couldn't make him go. So I hit the original website, join the original board, found Nemo's old site, DL'd everything there & tried to stay up on the albums & touring. When I joined the original board I didn't hang around a lot because it seemed too "local" & it felt weird so I left. I came back to it just before they canned it, miss some of it don't miss some of it. So, since I was a giant doofus & didn't go to local venues, I missed a lot of great RCPM shows even though I had all the albums. I've only seen 4 shows so far. My first show was at the State Theatre in VA right after T8 was released. They closed the show with Persephone which I thought was odd but that was all it took, one drink of the live Kool Aid & I knew I had to hit all the shows I could. I had planned to hit the Jewish Mother in VA Beach a few weeks ago but we had some landscaping issues with our stream/pond that was leaking so I couldn't go leaving it half finished & leaking so we stayed at home & finished it. Here's the result & believe it or not, I'm glad we missed the show for it because we'd still be working on it otherwise. Front Rock Garden and Pond pictures There's other albums there, feel free to have a look around. And if you do check 'em out, you'll also learn that I like Halloween. A LOT!

I'm from MD, lived all my life in a tiny little Mayberry-esque town. I bought the house across the street from the house I grew up in. Been married 10 years, together 15. I met him at the video store where I worked. No kids, just the hubby named Wade, a very old cat named Bubbie & a 5 year old cat named Baby Gato who also answers to Dingus, Doodlebug & Fatty. I am currently working as a receptionist for an HVAC/Plumbing company & while I don't love it, I don't hate it & it's 10 minutes away from home & they pay me a ridiculous amount of money to answer phones & do other crap no one else has the time or wants to do. I'm currently looking but it's gotta be the right job, pay & place. No more family owned businesses because that's what the current place is & the family politics are stoopad. Plus they've all only worked for family & in the family business & never had to be underneath someone else's authority so they don't really understand how certain aspects of business works. I've worked for large congloms (worked for Marriott, twice) to the tiny vid store & the ones in between are the best. My all time fave band is Queen & I got to see them in 1983 on the Hot Space tour & it's still my favourite large concert experience ever. Though my first concert was The Osmonds in 1976. ![]() Second in line would be Journey with Steve Perry, not the new fake Steve they have now. He's good but he's not Mr. Perry. THEN Bon Jovi. Besides RCPM, lately I've been on a Cat Stevens kick. I'm pretty much OK with anything but a lot of country (though I have a soft spot for old school performers like Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Conway Twitty, etc.) & rap. I even found myself singing along with Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back" last week on some radio station. Hobbies...I draw occasionally. Nothing realistic, just sorta weird, cartoony, stuff. I've recently gotten into making some jewelry with the hubby. Just bead stringing & earrings, nothing super complicated. We actually took the RCPM necklace & restrung it with other beads & at the last show I was at Roger noticed it & liked it. I think the glyph by itself is great for a guy, but mine just needed something more schnazzy. I'm also a huuuuge Halloween freak. I can't wait for all the back to school stuff to be gone so they can move in the Halloween stuff. Michaels has already done this. I do my yard & everything. We are actually getting ready to go to VA Beach for the week of Labor Day. Just call me Gidget cause I LOVE the beach. Yet, I don't know how to swim. Now if we could just talk RCPM into going back there to play the Jewish Mother again, I'll be set! Couldn't make the show a few weeks ago because of this: We finished our streambed & pond instead. We'll hafta settle for this instead: Verizon Wireless American Music Festival It's the kind of event RCPM would play if they were a local VA band or a bigger, seen-better-days-yet-not-a-where-are-they-now kinda band. Last year The B52s played. We've never actually been because it's a pain in the ass to get there & find parking & it's ridiculously crowded & usually ridiculously hot. My friend is as big a Black Crowes fans as I am an RCPM fan so she may go & if she does we'd go to see them. I'm actually going to see them with her on Aug. 29 in Baltimore & I gotta say, I'm not looking forward to it. She went to see RCPM & fell in love with them so I said I'd go to see the Black Crowes with her. I can't imagine the Black Crowes are gonna be better than RCPM in any way, shape or form. If nothing else maybe I can get a contact high. ![]() Oh there's other albums there on Photobucket to check out, my art, my Halloween & Christmas stuff, etc. etc., even an RCPM album now! OK now I have to look busy at work for a while so maybe more later! |

I am up to my neck in kids and school - but I love it! Just kills whatever 'free' time I thought I had!
Ok.... When is your next RCPM show? How many newbies have you taken and what was their reaction? Does your spouse think you've lost it cuz you love RCPM so much? Favorite teen idol? Favorite ice cream? Favorite Kool Aid flavor? Whatcha gonna do in VA Beach? Ever been to Disneyland or Disney World? Ever travel outside the US? What was your favorite subject in school growing up? Did you go to college? I'm just starting out - I'm the oldest kid in all of my classes! Allergies? My daughter wants me to get her a genetically altered cat that she won't die from. Are you watching America's Got Talent? My kids are addicted, but I haven't seen it. Any bizarre 'stupid human tricks' you do? I can wiggle my ears. Any other random things you feel like pondering on for the world?

When is your next RCPM show?
Whenever they hit the East Coast again which probably won't be until next year sometime. They usually hit DC/MD/VA area in March so then I guess. How many newbies have you taken and what was their reaction? So far one with others in line to go too! She's not quite a Kool Aid drinker yet but getting there. She still prefers Chris Robinson to Roger which just sounds like crazy talk to me. Does your spouse think you've lost it cuz you love RCPM so much? Nah, he's used to my obsession now. I broke him in early with my love for Bon Jovi, Jason Lee, Pez, Halloween, cats, etc. etc. Favorite teen idol? Ah a subject near & dear to my heart....sigh...when I was 5 I was POSITIVE I was gonna marry Speed Race. Trixie had NUTHIN' on me @ 5!! Then I found Donny Osmond & David Cassidy, then moved on to Leif Garrett, then I heard Van Halen's Women & Children first, saw David Lee Roth & that was it, I was alllll about the long haired hairy chested men after that & still am really. Jon Bon Jovi, Tom Selleck, Andy Gibb, Roger, etc. etc. I'll take Hugh Jackman over Zac Efron any day. Favorite ice cream? Chocolate Favorite Kool Aid flavor? You can thank Tippy for getting me back into Kool Aid! She was my Secret Santa from the board & sent me some. I think Black Cherry is my fave after RCPM Flavour!! Whatcha gonna do in VA Beach? Sit on the beach, watch the Navy boys training (we're practically right next door to a Naval Amphibious Training base), listen to RCPM & read. Prolly see Inglourious Basterds & Halloween 2 too. Ever been to Disneyland or Disney World? Went to Disney World in my senior year in high school on our school sponsored spring break to Daytona. I enjoyed it for the most part. Except for the Stroller Brigade that would break up our group. We fought back by forming a long chain to make them go around. REBELS WE WERE I TELLS YA!!! Ever travel outside the US? Not yet. I really wanna see France. Even before goin' to Rocky Point, I gotta see France. What was your favorite subject in school growing up? Music & english Did you go to college? I'm just starting out - I'm the oldest kid in all of my classes! No. Can't say I ever wanted to. Now, I'd do community college or specific classes in something that interested me, but not a whole curriculum for a specific degree. Allergies? My daughter wants me to get her a genetically altered cat that she won't die from. I'm allergic to waking up before I want to. And sulfa drugs make me vomit. You should get a Mr. Bigglesworth cat! Sphinx cat, no hair, no dandruff, no problem. They're not the prettiest but it's a cat. Are you watching America's Got Talent? My kids are addicted, but I haven't seen it. No, doesn't appeal to me for some reason. But I'll watch American Idol though I usually only watch the auditions I have made it through 2 full seasons, the Adam Lambert season & the Taylor Hicks season. I also just realized I missed Project Runway last nite. I love those VH1 Celebreality shows too. I really need to know who won the Meghan Wants a Millionaire show. I don't need to see it, I just wanna know who she picked.Any bizarre 'stupid human tricks' you do? I can wiggle my ears. Hmmm......the closest I can get to that, that I can think of right now, is I can recite all of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Oh wait, I can do the one-eyebrow raise like Spock. That's all I can think of right now. I'm also still pretty flexible for a 42 year old lady! I recall getting some physically therapy for a back thing I had a few years ago & they'd be practically rotating my legs & knees backwards & asking "Does this hurt?" & I'd be all "no." And then the 20something cute therapist says "You have a really great wide range of motion in your legs & hips." Which really translates as "You're pretty spry for an old lady!! ![]() Any other random things you feel like pondering on for the world? ![]() Let's see...I'm sure there is but now I, once again, have to appear to be working since I'm at work. It's pretty slow around here so I'll probably have plenty of time to goof around later. And my mood has been sad because I just lost my 15 year old cat named Bubbie. It's only been a week so it's still kinda hard even though I know he's not hurting anymore. And he was ancient in cat years. There's some pics in my photobucket account of him wearing cement shoes. We got our carport resurfaced, the guy didn't call us ahead of time to keep the gatos inside, he saw it, thought it was fine & sank up to his kitty knees! Yes, I laughed, took pics then bathed him. He was NOT happy about it either! Last edited by JLIAG; 09-04-2009 at 07:02 AM.. |
